Handouts and Candy
Safety is our number one priority.
Candy thrown at distance and candy that ends up in the parade route poses a danger to children who may attempt to retrieve candy from the road and near vehicles.
Candy may only be distributed by walkers, not thrown from floats or vehicles.
Participant groups should designate several responsible walking individuals to distribute candy and hand out materials (postcards, flyers, etc.)
End of Parade Disembarking and Pick-up
The parade route will end on the west end of Main Street at Fire Station One.
PLEASE NOTE THIS CHANGE: Highway 50/Benson Road will be closed to non-parade traffic from Highway 70 to Garner Road starting at 4:00pm. This will allow for more disembarking space.
Participants disembark in the Disembark Zone (in Red) after Fire Station One.
Participant Vehicles with riders or Trailers with riders who need to disembark should continue straight across Highway50/Benson Road in to Bryan Woods to stop and disembark. There will be a parade volunteer and Garner PD to guide your driver. Then continue through until you get to the parking lot at Vandora Springs Road.
Participants with vehicles with no riders to discharge must turn freely RIGHT onto Benson Road/Highway 50 to exit the parade area and head to Garner Road.
Participants on foot and/or meeting parents should walk through the end of the parade route and may use the sidewalk to walk the designated area (the yellow box on the map) around fire station to watch remainder of parade.
There is no direct vehicle pick-up at the fire station for parade participants.
